Sycamore Leaf Box - a tribute to Andy Goldsworthy
I had studied Andy Goldsworthy’s sculptures with leaves and I wanted to work out how they were made. The only way was to make them. Sycamore leaves have a vein structure that creates a right angle, perfect for making box corners. So as long as you pick similar size leaves and only use leaves with perfect right angled veins, then it all it takes is some patience to build one. It isn’t worth trying with leaves without a perfect right angle. I found one tree, near to where I live, that had perfect right angle leaves. The two trees either side of it did not. I tried with leaves with greater and less than 90 degrees for its veins and the box shape didn’t work. But to come up with the concept in the first place by studying the structure of leaves as Andy Goldsworthy did, is something else.
Fill up my cup
Mazeltov
Look at her dancing
just take it off
Lets paint the town
We’ll shut it down
Let’s burn the roof
and then we’ll do it again
Remember the day
I set you free
I told you
You could always count on me
From that day on I made a vow
I’ll be there when you want me
Some way,some how
